We inherit a strong social responsibility model from our parent organizations. The entire business plan of Rural Tourism ensures that a large part of our revenues flows directly into rural economy as accommodation, shopping and food services.
However, we strive to further broad base our social impact by broad basing the benefits.
In many of our accommodation arrangements (Except Heritage hotel stays & specific specially built resorts), we have committed to deploy a part of our profits for the rural welfare programs. A couple of such interesting programs are as follows:
- Created a basket of funds (ranges from Rs 100/- to 5% of billing per person) to be spent in the local panchayat area of the villages where we host tourists
- A basket of funds (ranges from Rs 100/- to 5% of billing per person) apportioned specially for Rural Welfare programs. These funds are being pooled under a solidarity fund and we will be utilizing services of some progressive NGO partners in utilizing these funds for Rural Welfare programs
We learned this from one of our first partners in tourism and in fact have both the fund baskets operational in the current season with the partner.
We are always keen on learning about and entering more innovative wealth sharing programs with tour partners.
