Volunteering – An Initiative
It is good to know that “you are capable of making a positive impact in the lives you touch, and definitely your own”. All you need to do, is Volunteer for it.
How to Start – Make a Positive Impact
In the process of enriching your surrounding you enrich yourself. Volunteering can take various shapes depending on your own skills and interest in the specific activities. Some of the options we suggest in our rural foray are given below:
- Teach India - Create a stronger and more empowered India by educating the rural masses. You can volunteer at Sahaj Schools, or work on other forms of Rural Education initiatives. Also visit Sahaj School site
In the process of teaching, you will find “Education Gaps” to be plugged to improve the quality of education in Rural India. We would love to get your feedback on the same. Organize camps, picnics and fun lessons for children.
- A Helping Hand - The volunteering can be at multiple levels.
- Agri-volunteering – Help the families in their harvest season by being an additional help
- Medical Volunteering - Help the local medical representative (E.g. ASHA) in improving the access to medical assistance in rural India, or work with a local NGO on different healthcare and health awareness drives
- Adding Value (Use your skills to improve livelihood opportunities in Rural India) - Work with artisans helping them with designing and possibly take up marketing initiatives by representing these villagers at Urban centers. We have multiple NGO partners (Gadodia Foundation, Morarka Foundation and others), to help you in participating in such activities and also provide logistics support for any marketing support as well.
- Explore Opportunities (Advanced Volunteering) - This is one of the most difficult forms of Volunteering. Here you come and stay with the farmer family, spend a week understanding the village landscape, farmer profile and then choose an area of interest where you would like to make an impact. Our experts have significant experience in rural interventions and can help you in arriving at tangible targets for the balance period of your stay. This experience needs a combination of analytical, decision-making and ability to work under uncertainties. We suggest this form of volunteering only for people with at least 8 weeks of time horizon.
